📦 Quick Summary: Need to send a parcel from Malaysia to Australia? Ebaoguo ships to every major Australian city with three self-operated routes: Aramex (3–7 business days, up to 25 kg), Pos Laju EMS (economy, best for lighter non-urgent parcels), and FedEx Express (fastest, up to 30 kg for urgent or high-value shipments). Whether you’re sending a care package to a student in Sydney, forwarding a Taobao or Shopee haul, or shipping supplements and baby products, you’re charged on chargeable weight (the greater of actual or volumetric). None of these routes include Australian GST or import duty — the recipient pays any charge at the border (DDU). Aramex — Standard Air Route (3–7 Days) #

  • Actual weight limit: 25 kg per parcel
  • Volumetric weight limit: 40 kg per parcel
  • Maximum single side: 200 cm
  • Transit: 3–7 business days to major Australian cities
  • Best for: general merchandise, health supplements, baby products, clothing

Pos Laju EMS (Economy Route) #

  • Economy postal route via Malaysia’s national postal service
  • Accepts a broader range of item types than courier routes
  • Longer transit — suitable for non-urgent, lighter shipments where cost matters more than speed

FedEx Express (Premium Route) #

📌 FedEx shipment requirement #

A supplier-issued invoice must be provided before dispatch. Used / second-hand goods are not accepted (documents excepted).

  • Fastest available option — typically 3–5 business days to Australia
  • Requires a commercial invoice for all shipments (proforma invoice acceptable for personal goods)
  • Maximum weight: 30 kg per parcel; max single side 80 cm; rounded up to the nearest 1 kg; multiple boxes to one address are weight-aggregated
  • Multiple parcels to the same address on the same day are aggregated for customs purposes

Shipping Cost & Volumetric Weight — How Charges Work #

Volumetric Weight (kg) = Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 5,000

All three routes charge on whichever is greater — actual weight or volumetric weight. Example: A 40×30×20 cm box = 4.8 kg volumetric. If actual weight is 3 kg, you pay 4.8 kg.

Rounding (Aramex): ≤10 kg → nearest 0.5 kg; >10 kg → nearest 1 kg. Use the ebaoguo shipping calculator to compare costs across all routes.

Do You Pay Customs & GST? Australian Import Rules #

⚠️ Important: None of ebaoguo’s Malaysia-to-Australia routes include Australian import duties or GST. The recipient is responsible for any charges raised by Australian Border Force (ABF).

  • GST (10%) applies to all goods imported into Australia regardless of value. For goods valued below AUD $1,000, GST is collected by the overseas seller or platform at checkout. For goods valued AUD $1,000 or above, a formal import declaration is required and GST plus any applicable customs duty is assessed by ABF at the border
  • Customs duty: Most consumer goods attract 0–5%. Alcohol and tobacco have duties regardless of value
  • No duty-free threshold for personal imports — unlike the pre-2018 rules, GST now applies to all goods from AUD $0

What You Can & Can’t Send to Australia (Biosecurity Rules) #

Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) enforces strict biosecurity rules on all international parcels. These apply regardless of carrier or declared value.

Absolutely Prohibited #

  • Fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, seeds, and soil in any form
  • Untreated timber not certified to ISPM 15 standard
  • Fresh or minimally processed meat and dairy
  • Live animals

Restricted (Permit or Declaration Required) #

  • Dried or commercially packaged food — check DAFF BICON for your specific item and Malaysian origin
  • Vitamins, supplements, and medications — may require TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approval
  • Used outdoor/camping gear — must be clean, free of soil and plant material
  • Wildlife products and CITES-listed items — CITES permit required

Prohibited & Restricted Items — Malaysia to Australia #

  • Standalone lithium batteries (not installed in a device)
  • Dangerous goods: flammable liquids and gases, explosives, oxidising substances
  • Pressurised containers (aerosols, gas cartridges)
  • Cash, currency, negotiable instruments
  • Perishables and food items
  • Counterfeit or trademark-infringing goods
  • All items prohibited under Australian biosecurity or customs law

Frequently Asked Questions #

How long does it take to send a parcel from Malaysia to Australia?

It depends on the route. FedEx Express is fastest at typically 3–5 business days and is best for urgent or high-value parcels. Aramex, our standard route, takes 3–7 business days to major Australian cities and suits most general shipments. Pos Laju EMS is the economy option, so transit is longer and varies — a good choice when cost matters more than speed. Transit time is counted from dispatch out of our Malaysia warehouse and can be extended by Australian customs or biosecurity inspection, and by public holidays on either side.

Do I have to pay GST or customs duty when my parcel arrives in Australia?

All Ebaoguo Malaysia-to-Australia routes are DDU, so any Australian charges are paid by the recipient, not bundled into your shipping fee. GST of 10% applies to imported goods from AUD $0 — Australia has no duty-free threshold. For goods valued under AUD $1,000, GST is usually collected by the seller or platform at checkout; at AUD $1,000 or above, a formal import declaration is required and GST plus any customs duty (typically 0–5% for consumer goods) is assessed by Australian Border Force at the border. Always declare the correct item and value to avoid clearance delays.

What is the maximum parcel size via Aramex?

Via Aramex: 25 kg actual weight maximum, 40 kg volumetric maximum, 200 cm maximum single side. For heavier shipments, FedEx Express accepts up to 30 kg per parcel with a maximum single side of 80 cm; multiple boxes to the same address are weight-aggregated.

Can I send food, snacks or supplements from Malaysia to Australia?

Fresh food, raw meat, dairy, plants and seeds are prohibited under Australian biosecurity law and will be seized. Commercially packaged, shelf-stable snacks and processed food may be allowed, but you must check the DAFF BICON database for your exact item first. Vitamins and supplements can require TGA approval. Also banned from import: vapes and e-cigarettes, standalone lithium batteries, and counterfeit goods. When in doubt about a food or health item, verify on BICON before sending — Australia’s biosecurity rules are strict and inspection is at customs’ discretion.

Does FedEx Express require a commercial invoice?

Yes. FedEx Express requires a commercial invoice for all shipments including personal parcels. For non-commercial goods, a simplified proforma invoice with item descriptions and estimated values is acceptable. ebaoguo can assist with preparing required documentation.

What is volumetric weight and why does it affect my shipping cost?

Volumetric weight reflects the space a parcel takes up. Formula: Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 5,000. If your parcel is large but light — lightweight clothing in a big box, for example — the volumetric weight may exceed actual weight, and you pay for the higher figure. Reboxing to remove excess packaging can significantly reduce this.

How does Ebaoguo forwarding work — how do I get a Malaysia warehouse address?

Sign up free at dashboard.ebaoguo.com with your email or Google account and you instantly get a personal Malaysia warehouse address with a unique SuiteID. Use that address at checkout when you shop on Taobao, Shopee, Lazada or any Malaysian store. Pre-declare each parcel (tracking number and value) in the dashboard so we know it’s yours. Once your items arrive at the warehouse, submit a shipment request, pick your route (Aramex, Pos Laju EMS or FedEx), pay, and we handle the rest to your Australian address. Use cal.ebaoguo.com to estimate the cost before you ship.

Are duties and taxes included, or does my recipient pay on arrival?

All three Malaysia-to-Australia routes (Aramex, Pos Laju EMS, FedEx) ship on a DDU basis, so duties and taxes are not included. Australia charges 10% GST on imported goods from AUD $0 — there is no duty-free threshold. For parcels under AUD $1,000, GST is usually collected by the seller or platform at checkout; at AUD $1,000 or above a formal import declaration is required and the recipient pays GST plus any customs duty to the ABF on arrival. Ebaoguo does not pre-collect these charges.

All shipments subject to ebaoguo’s Terms and Conditions. Transit times are estimates. Import duties and taxes are the recipient’s responsibility.
