Customs & Duties — This Route is DDP #
Ebaoguo’s Japan → Malaysia line is a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service: Malaysian import duty and Sales & Service Tax (SST) are pre-paid by Ebaoguo and already included in your freight quote. The recipient pays nothing extra at the door — no surprise tax bills, no visit to a customs office.
- Declared-value limit: ¥5,000 per waybill — please declare goods accurately. DDP coverage does not mean under-declaration is permitted; correct declaration avoids inspection delays.
- Eligible goods: personal-use consumer items (clothing, bags, baby products, cosmetics, daily goods, toys, anime merchandise, etc.).
- Not eligible: regulated categories — perfume / alcohol-based skincare, loose lithium batteries and power banks, aerosols, flammables, tobacco and alcohol. See prohibited list below.
- Malaysian import duty is governed by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department: customs.gov.my (RMCD). Japan export rules: Japan Customs.

FAQ #
How is transit time calculated?
West Malaysia (KL, Penang, JB and major cities): 5–7 working days. East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak): 7–15 days. Transit starts once the parcel is dispatched from our Japan warehouse, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Does the recipient need to pay customs in Malaysia?
No. This is a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service. Malaysian import duties and customs clearance fees are included in the freight rate. The recipient does not pay any additional fees at the door.
How is volumetric weight calculated?
Volumetric weight = Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 5000. The chargeable weight is whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric weight.
What is the compensation for lost parcels?
Without insurance: maximum compensation AU$100 equivalent per waybill (freight included). With insurance (premium = 5% of declared value, invoice required): maximum coverage AU$500 equivalent per waybill (loss only; damage / deformation / spoilage / leakage not covered). See full insurance terms.
How much does shipping from Japan to Malaysia cost?
Rates are based on chargeable weight (whichever is greater: actual weight vs volumetric weight = L cm × W cm × H cm ÷ 5000). West Malaysia: ¥1,300/kg; East Malaysia: ¥1,800/kg. Parcels under 5 kg incur an additional ¥300 per waybill. Because this route is DDP, the quoted price is final — no extra duties or customs fees at delivery. Use the freight calculator for an instant quote with JPY conversion.
Can I ship items bought on Amazon JP, Rakuten, or Yahoo! Japan?
Yes. When you register at Ebaoguo you receive a free Japan warehouse address. Use that address as the delivery address when checking out on Amazon Japan, Rakuten Ichiba, Yahoo! Shopping, or any other Japanese online store — and note your member ID in the order notes. Parcels from multiple orders can be consolidated into one shipment at no extra charge, saving on per-parcel freight costs.
Why is East Malaysia (Sabah / Sarawak) slower than West Malaysia?
West Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia — KL, Penang, Johor Bahru) is close to major air-freight hubs, so last-mile delivery takes 5–7 working days at ¥1,300/kg. East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo) requires an extra sea-crossing leg after the flight lands, which adds transit time — hence 7–15 days at ¥1,800/kg. Both destinations are fully DDP, door-to-door, and tracked throughout.
What can I ship — cosmetics, baby products, lithium-battery electronics?
Everyday consumer goods are generally fine: clothing, bags, shoes, baby items (formula, nappies, toys), water-based skincare, anime and hobby merchandise. Prohibited on this route: perfume and alcohol-based skincare, loose lithium batteries and standalone power banks, pressurised aerosol cans, flammable or explosive goods, tobacco, and alcohol. For devices with built-in batteries (phones, tablets, laptops) — contact our customer service team before ordering to confirm eligibility.
