New Zealand Customs & GST #
- GST (15%): Applies to all imported goods. For consignments NZD 1,000 or below, GST is collected at checkout via the overseas supplier (if registered) or at the border.
- Customs duty: Consignments valued over NZD 1,000 are assessed for both customs duty and GST. Duty rates vary by HS code (many goods at 0–5%).
- New Zealand Biosecurity: NZ has strict biosecurity controls. Do not send any food, plant material, or soil products without prior Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) approval.
- Declare accurate values — NZ Customs (NZCS) actively monitors postal imports.
