How do I track my package shipped from China to Japan?
Is it safe to use a parcel forwarder or consolidation service for shipping from China to Japan?
Using a reputable parcel forwarder is safe and widely used by overseas Chinese communities shipping from Taobao, 1688, and other Chinese platforms. Look for a forwarder that offers warehouse inspection photos, clear pricing with no hidden fees, and proper customs declaration practices. Avoid services that pressure you to under-declare value or refuse to provide itemised receipts. A trustworthy China shipping agent will also carry liability cover for lost or damaged parcels, giving you recourse if something goes wrong in transit.

How long does shipping from China to Japan take with EMS?
shipping from china to japan โ China Post EMS to Japan typically takes 5โ10 business days from the moment your parcel leaves the Chinese warehouse. Transit times can stretch during Golden Week, Chinese New Year, or peak shopping seasons like 11.11. If you’re using a consolidation service to bundle multiple Taobao or 1688 orders first, factor in an extra 2โ5 business days for your forwarder to receive, inspect, and repack your goods before dispatch. Door-to-door delivery to most Japanese addresses is included with EMS, so no separate last-mile arrangement is needed.
How much does it cost to ship from China to Japan?
shipping from china to japan โ China Post EMS rates to Japan are calculated by actual weight or dimensional weight, whichever is greater. As a rough guide, a 1 kg parcel typically costs around CNY 130โ160, with each additional kilogram adding CNY 30โ50. If you use a parcel forwarder with a consolidation service, you’ll also pay a small handling fee per shipment, but the savings from combining multiple Taobao, Pinduoduo, or 1688 wholesale orders into one box usually outweigh that cost. Always confirm whether the quoted rate is DDU or DDP, as DDP covers Japanese import duty upfront.
Can I ship Taobao, 1688, or Pinduoduo items to Japan?
Yes โ Taobao, 1688 wholesale, Pinduoduo, JD.com, and Tmall all ship to a Chinese warehouse address provided by your parcel forwarder. The forwarder receives your goods, inspects them, and then ships everything onward to your Japan address via EMS or your preferred carrier. This is especially useful if you’re ordering from multiple sellers, since a Taobao agent or China shipping agent can consolidate everything into one shipment, cutting down on per-parcel shipping fees significantly.
Do I have to pay customs duty on packages arriving in Japan from China?
Japan has a de minimis threshold โ parcels with a declared value under ยฅ10,000 JPY (roughly USD $65) are generally exempt from import duty and consumption tax. Above that threshold, Japan Customs will assess duty based on the declared value on the customs declaration form. Some shippers opt for DDP shipping so all duties are settled before the parcel leaves China, avoiding any surprise charges on delivery. Never ask your freight forwarder to under-declare value โ it’s illegal and can result in seizure or fines.
What items are prohibited or restricted when shipping from China to Japan?
Japan prohibits or restricts a range of goods including narcotics, firearms, counterfeit brand-name goods, certain agricultural products, and some animal-derived materials. From a practical shipping standpoint, lithium batteries (especially loose ones), flammable liquids, aerosols, and pressurised cans are either banned or heavily restricted on EMS and most air freight services. A reputable parcel forwarder will flag these during warehouse inspection before your shipment is dispatched, helping you avoid delays or outright rejection at Japanese customs.
Can I consolidate multiple Taobao or 1688 orders into one shipment to Japan?
Absolutely โ consolidation is one of the main reasons people use a parcel forwarder for China-to-Japan shipping. You shop across Taobao, Tmall, Pinduoduo, and 1688 wholesale, have everything delivered to your forwarder’s Chinese warehouse, and then ship it all in one box. This saves significantly on per-kilogram EMS rates compared to sending each order separately. Most consolidation services also offer repacking to reduce dimensional weight, which can lower your final shipping cost further.
