How much does it cost to ship from China to South Korea?
Can I ship Taobao, 1688, or Pinduoduo items to South Korea?
shipping from china to south korea โ Yes โ Taobao, 1688 wholesale, Pinduoduo, JD.com, and Tmall all ship to a parcel forwarder’s Chinese warehouse address. Your forwarder then consolidates everything and sends it to your South Korean address in one shipment. This is especially useful for 1688 wholesale orders, where minimum quantities mean you’re often buying from several suppliers at once. Just note that branded or trademarked goods โ even if purchased legitimately โ can attract extra scrutiny at South Korean customs.
Do I have to pay import duty or customs tax on packages from China?
South Korea applies import duty and VAT on parcels whose declared value exceeds KRW 150,000 (roughly USD 110) for personal imports. Below that threshold, most shipments clear customs duty-free. Your China shipping agent will prepare the customs declaration, but the declared value must reflect the real purchase price โ under-declaring is illegal and risks seizure. If you want a fully landed cost with no surprise charges on delivery, ask your freight forwarder about a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service, which covers duties and taxes upfront.
What items are prohibited or restricted when shipping from China to South Korea?
China Post EMS and most air freight carriers prohibit lithium batteries shipped loose (they must be installed in a device), flammable liquids, aerosols, and certain food products. South Korean customs also restricts counterfeit goods, some agricultural products, and items that infringe local safety standards. If you’re shipping via a parcel forwarder, check their prohibited items list before purchasing โ reputable consolidation services will flag problem items during the intake inspection rather than after your shipment is already in transit.
Can I consolidate multiple Taobao orders into one shipment to South Korea?
Consolidation is one of the main reasons overseas shoppers use a parcel forwarder. You shop across Taobao, Tmall, Pinduoduo, or any Chinese platform, have everything delivered to your forwarder’s warehouse, and they bundle it into a single outbound shipment. This cuts per-kg shipping costs significantly compared to sending each order separately. Most consolidation services also offer repackaging โ removing excess boxes and padding โ to further reduce dimensional weight before your parcel ships door-to-door to South Korea.
What happens if my package from China gets held by South Korean customs?
Customs holds usually happen because the declared value triggers a duty assessment, documentation is incomplete, or the contents need further inspection. Your China shipping agent or freight forwarder should notify you promptly and advise on next steps โ typically submitting a purchase invoice or paying the assessed duty. Under a DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) arrangement, those charges fall to you on arrival. A good forwarder will guide you through the process, but resolution can add 5โ15 business days to your overall delivery timeline, so factor that in for time-sensitive shipments.

How Irregular Parcels Are Measured #
โ Standard parcel measurement:
For standard carton-shaped parcels, volumetric weight is calculated using the carton’s length, width, and height.
