To provide faster passenger clearance services, Hong Kong Customs has implemented a “Red and Green Channel System” at all immigration control points. Arriving passengers should follow the red and green channel signs displayed in the arrival halls and choose the appropriate clearance channel.
Red Channel (Declaration Channel) โ Passengers arriving in Hong Kong who are carrying any of the following items must use this channel and declare to Customs officers:
- Any prohibited or controlled items;
- Dutiable commodities that are not eligible for duty-free concessions or that exceed the exemption quantity; and/or
- Large amounts (i.e. total value exceeding HKD 120,000 or equivalent in foreign currency) of currency and bearer negotiable instruments (“cash-like items”).
Please note:
- Passengers who cannot produce a valid licence or permit for prohibited or controlled items they are carrying may be prosecuted, and the items will be confiscated.
- Passengers must pay customs duty on dutiable commodities that are not eligible for duty-free concessions or that exceed the exemption quantity, or the items may be confiscated by Customs officers.
- Passengers must declare any large amounts of cash-like items in their possession. Any false declaration in a material particular may result in prosecution, and the items may be confiscated.
Green Channel (Nothing to Declare Channel) โ Passengers should use this channel if they:
- Are not carrying any dutiable commodities or prohibited or controlled items;
- Are carrying dutiable commodities within the exemption quantities; and/or
- Are in possession of cash-like items with a total value of HKD 120,000 or below (or equivalent in foreign currency).
When using the Green Channel, passengers:
- May be prosecuted or fined if found carrying dutiable commodities without making a declaration or with an incomplete declaration.
- May be prosecuted if found carrying any prohibited or controlled items without a valid licence or permit, and the items will be confiscated.
- May be prosecuted if found in possession of large amounts of cash-like items without making a declaration, and the items may also be confiscated.
Please note:
Using the Green Channel does not exempt passengers from Customs inspection.
Common categories of imported goods #
Given the wide variety of products available, we recommend checking the Hong Kong Customs enquiry website before arrival to verify whether your items are permitted entry. The following is a partial list of commonly carried or mailed import goods and does not imply that they are legally importable.
Many customers ask us: they previously mailed food and medicine via China Post sea or air freight without any issues โ so why can’t they send the same items through our consolidation service?
Firstly, China Post does not proactively declare goods โ the Universal Postal Union clearance process means postal parcels have a relatively lower chance of being inspected by Customs. Secondly, some freight forwarders do not make truthful declarations on behalf of customers in order to ship more parcels. If you mail goods that are not permitted for import, Customs will detain your items and send you a notification of seized prohibited goods โ the letter will state what was seized and why. If you can provide the relevant import permits and approvals, Customs will release the goods. If you cannot, the recipient will bear the responsibility and consequences of mailing prohibited items; the sender generally cannot be held liable.
All warehouses under Ebaoguo Global Forwarding manually inspect and open parcels upon receipt. While this takes time, we make every effort to comply with the laws and regulations of all import and export countries, in pursuit of long-term, sustainable operations.
Can I carry or mail alcohol to Hong Kong? #
Passengers aged 18 or above may bring into Hong Kong, duty-free, 1 litre of alcoholic beverages with an alcoholic strength of more than 30% by volume measured at 20 degrees Celsius, for their own personal use.
Passengers holding a Hong Kong Identity Card must have departed Hong Kong for no less than 24 hours before they are entitled to the above exemption quantity.
Failure to declare alcoholic beverages may result in penalties, prosecution, or cancellation of your visa. The consequences will depend on the quantity of undeclared excess alcohol or goods found on your person.
Ebaoguo does not support the shipping of alcohol or alcoholic beverages.
Can I carry or mail cigarettes to Hong Kong? #
None of Ebaoguo’s warehouses have any channel available to mail tobacco products to Hong Kong.

If you exceed the limit, you must declare and pay the applicable customs duty and excise tax on the excess amount. Failure to declare or carrying tobacco in excess of the permitted quantity may result in penalties, prosecution, or cancellation of your visa. The consequences will depend on the quantity of undeclared excess tobacco or goods found on your person.
All warehouses under Ebaoguo Global Forwarding will refuse to accept tobacco goods.
If you intend to ship tobacco products or prohibited items through us โ please do not register as our member. We appreciate it. No amount of money will make us ship them. Hard pass.
Restricted and prohibited items #
The Hong Kong SAR Government strictly regulates the import and export of all prohibited and controlled items.
Common prohibited and controlled items include dangerous drugs, psychotropic substances, controlled chemicals, antibiotics, firearms, ammunition, weapons, fireworks, strategic commodities, rough diamonds, animals, plants, endangered species, telecommunications equipment, game, meat, poultry, eggs, and infant formula.
Passengers who bring any of the above items into or out of Hong Kong SAR without a valid licence, permit, health certificate, or written authorisation may be prosecuted, and the items will be seized and confiscated.
The penalties imposed on passengers found carrying prohibited or controlled items will depend on the relevant legislation governing the import and export of such items.

How to ship #
Step 1: Register and log in at https://ebaoguo.cn to obtain your Ebaoguo China warehouse address and your unique member ID. Step 2: You can purchase products from any online store in mainland China and have them shipped to the address we assign to you. Step 3: Once your parcels arrive at the Ebaoguo China warehouse, they will be logged into your parcel list. Step 4: When all parcels have arrived, you can submit a shipping request from your parcel list โ fill in your Hong Kong delivery address, declare your goods, and select any additional services. Step 5: Once the China warehouse has packed your order according to your instructions, you will receive a payment notification. Step 6: After successful payment, we will dispatch your goods on the next available packing date. Step 7: Once the shipment arrives in Hong Kong, delivery will be arranged according to your chosen logistics method, or you may collect it in person.
