📦 Route: What Can I Bring or Mail to Singapore
📅 Updated:
ℹ️
Whether you are mailing or carrying goods into Singapore, always declare accurately. #
When entering Singapore, you are required to submit your Singapore Arrival Card at least three days before arrival. You can do this via https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/ or by downloading the official “MyICA” mobile app for free from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The Singapore Arrival Card is the electronic version of the paper disembarkation/embarkation card (commonly known as the white card) that foreign visitors previously had to submit when clearing immigration. From 27 March 2020, ICA ceased the use of paper DE cards, and all travellers must now provide their arrival information through the “SG Arrival Card” e-service.
After clearing Singapore Customs, immigration officers will check your arrival card and determine whether you and your baggage need to be inspected. You may also voluntarily dispose of food items, plant material, or animal products in the bins provided at the arrival hall.
Goods carried into Singapore must be accurately described in your declaration, including item name, quantity, and value.
Under Singapore law, arriving travellers must declare and pay customs duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST) on dutiable and taxable goods that exceed their duty-free and GST relief allowances. This applies regardless of whether the goods were purchased overseas or in Singapore.

Singapore Electronic Arrival Card #

All goods imported into Singapore are subject to GST.
New goods purchased overseas and brought into Singapore for personal use may be eligible for GST import relief.
1. If you have been away from Singapore for 48 hours or more, the relief is S$500.
2. If you have been away for less than 48 hours, the relief is S$100.
GST is charged at 7% of the total declared value of goods on the customs declaration form. However, the final assessed value is determined by customs based on the contents of the declared packing list.
Your personal effects and household goods shipment may be imported duty-free when the following conditions are met:
1. If you are not a Singapore citizen, you must import your personal effects and household goods within 6 months of your arrival in Singapore in order to qualify for GST relief.
2. If you are a Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident, the import must also be completed within 6 months of your arrival in Singapore, otherwise GST will be levied.
Common categories of imported goods #
Given the wide variety of products available, we recommend checking the Singapore Food Agency’s enquiry portal before you travel to confirm whether your items are permitted entry. The list below covers only some of the more commonly carried or mailed goods and does not imply that they can be legally imported.
Many customers ask us why they were able to mail food and medicine via China Post sea or air routes without any issues, yet our forwarding service cannot ship the same items.
The main reason is that China Post does not proactively declare goods — the Universal Postal Union clearance process means postal parcels are less likely to be inspected by customs. Additionally, some forwarders do not accurately declare goods on behalf of their customers in order to ship more parcels. If you mail goods that are not permitted for import, customs will detain your items and send you a notification form listing the detained goods and the reason for detention. If you can provide the relevant import permits and approvals, customs will release the goods. If you cannot, the recipient bears the responsibility and consequences of mailing prohibited items — the sender is generally not held accountable.
All warehouses under Ebaoguo Global Forwarding manually open and inspect parcels upon receipt. While this takes time, we make every effort to comply with the laws and regulations of both the origin and destination countries, in the interest of long-term, sustainable operations.
Can I bring or mail alcohol to Singapore? #
If you are 18 years of age or older, you may bring in a total of no more than 2 litres of liquor and alcoholic beverages of any combination. If you are carrying more than 10 litres of alcohol products into Singapore, a customs permit is required for clearance. All alcoholic beverages in your accompanied baggage fall under this category, regardless of where or how they were purchased.
If you exceed Singapore’s duty-free allowance, duty and taxes will apply to all items of that type — not just the amount over the limit.
Failure to declare alcoholic beverages may result in penalties, prosecution, or cancellation of your visa. The consequences will depend on the quantity of undeclared excess alcohol or goods found on you.
Ebaoguo does not support the mailing of alcohol or alcoholic beverages.
Can I bring or mail tobacco products to Singapore? #

None of Ebaoguo’s warehouses have any channel available to mail tobacco products to Singapore.
Singapore has very strict controls on tobacco products (cigarettes and cigars) — even smoking within Singapore is restricted to designated areas. While it is possible to bring cigarettes into Singapore, you must declare them accurately and pay significant duties.
Failure to declare may result in penalties, prosecution, or cancellation of your visa. The consequences will depend on the quantity of undeclared excess tobacco or goods found on you.
Ebaoguo Global Forwarding — all warehouses will refuse to accept tobacco goods.
If you intend to ship tobacco products or prohibited items through us — please do not register as a member. We appreciate it. No amount of money will change this. Hard no.
Can I bring or mail medicine to Singapore? #
❌ None of Ebaoguo’s warehouses have any channel available to mail medicine to Singapore.
Singapore permits travellers to bring in common everyday medicines such as cold and flu tablets, antacids, anti-diarrhoeal medication, toothache relief, pain relief, eye drops, and plasters. However, certain controlled medications — including those with strong narcotic properties and sleeping pills (such as Diazepam and Codeine) — are generally prohibited. If you have a genuine medical need, prior approval from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is required before entry, along with a doctor’s certificate confirming the medication is medically necessary for the traveller. For other prescription medications, always carry your doctor’s prescription. Important: Do not bring traditional Chinese medicine into Singapore! Food and Beverages #
Any food provided on the aircraft should be left on the plane or disposed of in the bins provided at the arrival hall. If a quarantine officer finds undeclared meat or other livestock products in your carry-on baggage, the person carrying those items will be subject to penalties. Singapore’s penalties are severe, so forgetting to declare can cause serious trouble. For this reason, we do not recommend bringing or mailing meat-based food products into Singapore. Singapore has strict biosecurity procedures. Under Singapore Customs requirements, certain foods brought into Singapore — particularly meat, eggs, and dairy — must be declared. This covers items in any form, including fresh, chilled, frozen, or heat-processed products.
Singapore has very strict controls on meat. In principle, meat can be brought in, but there are strict requirements on quantity and country of origin. If the country of origin does not meet the requirements, it will be treated as a violation. Singapore Customs has provided detailed classifications for various food items:
